Market Strategist: Christian Svendsen

Background

Christian grew up in Copenhagen Denmark, educated with a diploma in Finance from Copenhagen Business School; he has previous work experience as an auditor at Deloitte. Christian has been employed by Saxo Bank since April 2006.

Trading Style

With a combination of fundamental and technical analysis, Christian mostly trades a classic trend following setup, based on systematic spotting of strong trades in Equities. The idea is to identify trending equities that are trading at either in the bottom of a strong bull trend or in the top of a bear trend, thus offering a low risk premium for a potential big reward. This setup allows for an increased trading activity, where losses are minimal as a break of the traded trend is quickly identified.

Christian trades on global markets, not within any specific sector, most importantly is the volume traded within the company, as trends tend to be stronger in high volume companies.

Frequency

Christian receives a fair amount of signals each day, each signal is scrutinized for what the probability setup is, how big a stop should be used and so fort, minimizing the amount of trades to a target of 1-2 a day, with a holding period of around 2 days to around 10-14 days, if the trend is continuing in the right direction Christian normally locks in profit either by trailing the stop or by taking partial profit.

Products

Short-term long and short positions in globally listed companies tradable on major Exchanges (American, European).
